Locate My IP is a network diagnostic and IP inspection tool engineered with a strict privacy-first philosophy. We believe your network data belongs to you: we inspect network routes, not user identities.

1. Overview

Locate My IP ("we", "our", "the App") is a network diagnostic and IP inspection tool engineered with a strict privacy-first philosophy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we process, how it is handled, and your choices.

We believe your network data belongs to you. We do not track you across apps, do not collect personal identifiers, and never sell or monetize your data.

2. Information We Process

When you use the App, we process only the minimum technical data necessary to provide diagnostic services:

  • Public IP Address: When you perform a lookup, your public IP address is received by our backend API solely to query geolocation (city/country level) and network Autonomous System (ASN) intelligence. IP lookups are ephemeral: your IP is processed in memory and never logged to permanent disk storage, profiled, or shared with advertisers.
  • Approximate Geolocation: Derived exclusively from your public IP address (city, region, and country level). We never request, access, or track your device's GPS or precise physical location.
  • On-Device Network & VPN Diagnostics: Detection of active VPN tunnels (such as utun, tun, ppp, or WireGuard interfaces), local HTTP/SOCKS proxies, IPv6 connectivity, and local network interface addresses is computed entirely on your device in sandboxed memory. This diagnostic data never leaves your device.
  • WebRTC Candidate & STUN Diagnostics: When performing a WebRTC audit, the App communicates with standard public STUN servers solely to reflect public candidate IP addresses. No media streams, audio, video, or communication payloads are ever accessed, recorded, or transmitted.
  • Anonymous Device Identifier: For API rate limiting and service integrity, we generate a cryptographically salted SHA-256 hash derived from anonymous device attributes. This identifier cannot be linked to your personal identity, name, phone number, or email address.

3. What We Do Not Collect

  • No Accounts: No sign-up, registration, username, password, or email is required to use the App.
  • No Advertising Identifiers: We do not collect or access Apple's Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) or Google Advertising ID.
  • No Cross-App Tracking: We do not track your activity across other apps or websites, and we do not use marketing or tracking cookies.
  • No Traffic Logging: We do not inspect, log, or monitor your browsing history, DNS queries, or Internet traffic.

4. Third-Party Services & Subscriptions

We keep third-party integrations to an absolute minimum:

  • In-App Purchases & Subscriptions: If you upgrade to Locate My IP PRO, your payment is processed directly by Apple Inc. through the Apple App Store. We utilize RevenueCat to validate anonymous purchase receipts. We never see, collect, or store your credit card numbers, bank account details, or billing addresses.
  • IP Geolocation & Threat Feeds: Geolocation and ASN lookups are proxied through our secure backend API servers. Upstream geolocation databases (e.g., MaxMind GeoLite2) see only requests originating from our server, not direct connections from your mobile device.

5. Data Retention & Security

We do not retain your queried IP addresses or geolocation lookups after your API request completes. All communication between the App and our backend API servers is secured using modern Transport Layer Security (TLS 1.3) encryption.

Any diagnostic history or user preferences you save are stored strictly in your device's local sandboxed storage and can be cleared at any time by uninstalling the App or clearing app data.

6. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (such as the European Economic Area / UK under the GDPR, or California under the CCPA/CPRA), you may have statutory rights regarding your personal information, including the right to access, correct, or delete data. Because we do not associate IP lookups with user accounts or identifiable profiles, we hold no persistent personal data linked to your identity.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed toward children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in certain jurisdictions), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may occasionally update this Privacy Policy to reflect app enhancements or legal requirements. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
